Tripogandra purpurascens
A genus found in Mexico, not entering the United States, Tripogandra is similar to
Tradescantia, but with three large stamens with yellow
anthers and three smaller stamens with whitish-lavender anthers; all anthers, however,
appear to release pollen. My identification of the species is tentative.
Plant habit near Valle de los Monjes, near Creel in Chihuahua, Mexico, 7 Sep 2009.
Photographed on a trip with the American Penstemon Society.
