Persicaria lapathifolia

A large, thick-stemmed Persicaria with long, drooping inflorescences and achenes that, unlike most Persicaria, are usually flat with two styles & stigmas. Common in summer at stock tanks and in moist washes in New Mexico, and found throughout the continental United States.
