Geum aleppicum Jacq.

A yellow-flowered Geum much like Geum macrophyllum but without glandular hairs on the styles. The line between these two species does not seem to be entirely clear in New Mexico.

A flower in La Luz Canyon, Sacramento Mountains, Otero Co., New Mexico, 9 Aug 2009.

Fruit in La Luz Canyon, 9 Aug 2009. There are some minusucule hairs amid the prominent hirsute pubescence of the styles, but these appear to be merely blunt-tipped rather than glandular. Plants like this are the reason I think the boundary between this and G. macrophyllum may be in need of further clarification.

A basal leaf in La Luz Canyon, 9 Aug 2009.

A cauline leaf in La Luz Canyon, 9 Aug 2009.

Stem pubescence, ca. 2/3 of the way up the stem, in La Luz Canyon, 9 Aug 2009.
