Dalea mollissima

A small, hairy Dalea that typically has wavy margins on its leaflets. The similar D. mollis has leaflets with entire, plane margins. The two also differ in calyx characters, as D. mollissima has calices with the lobes longer than the tube of the calyx, while D. mollis has calices with the lobes about the same length as the tube of the calyx.

Plant habit at the overlook along the road just west of Bahia de los Angeles, Baja California, 21 Oct 2006. As you can see in this and the following photography, this plant has leaflets with entire, plane margins but calices with the lobes clearly longer than the tube of the calyx. I am tentatively taking this plant to be D. mollis.
