Anisacanthus wrightii

A striking hummingbird-pollinated plant of the Big Bend and Edwards Plateau regions of Texas, also sometimes cultivated. Distinguished from Anisacanthus thurberi by its larger, petiolate, lanceolate leaves.

Inflorescences at Dripping Springs in the Organ Mountains, 8/19/06. The plant here is a volunteer, presumably from seed carried in accidentally, but possibly from an unrecorded Organ Mts. population.
