Polygala obscura

Similar to Polygala barbeyana, but with fruits pubescent on the faces (the margins of the fruits are pubescent in both species) and wider leaves.

A flower in Sycamore Canyon in the Pajarito Mts., 8/7/05.

Plant habit in Sycamore Canyon, 8/7/05. The broad leaves indicate that this is P. obscura rather than P. barbeyana, but fruits were not present. Thus identification is somewhat tentative, although supported by the presence in Arizona herbaria of several specimens of P. obscura, but none of P. barbeyana, from Sycamore Canyon.
